Ahoy!
I don't get a stretch of days off where I can chase in the plains and weather is what you make it. To that end, I peeked at the NWS forecast for the Lake Tahoe basin this morning and have this gem:

No, there won't be any tornadic activity, but it might be fun to watch Ma Nature open up the skies. So, I'm packing some gear and my cheap camera to go see what develops. If I get any worthy pictures, I'll post 'em up.

Wicked Poor Weather
Greetings Drones........
I'm sure there's not a single one of the readership that has contemplated suicide as a result of my sloth; but I issue an apology for non-published gems of wx wizdom regardless.
We've been experiencing a death trough over the US mid-west - due no doubt to the jinxy launch of the Vortex 2 project. My recommendation is to keep that jewel a secret from the weather Gods next time. While there have been isolated outbreaks throughout the month of May, there have been very few set ups that warrant SDS type excitement. So much for complaining about non-weather in California.
So what has my spare time entailed? It certainly hasn't been devoted to improving my prose or designing a better functioning blogite. Unfortunately, I'm one of many folks in our country who have fallen on hard times and am actively seeking employment of the variety that doesn't require a question involving french fries. Don't get me wrong; any work is noble and should be viewed as such. I have defined my existence through the production of offspring which require sustenance in order to survive. So regarding fry detail - $8.25 an hour doesn't make rent AND P&GE.
Having all this time to ponder my next course of action has fired my creativity and I assure the readership that I remain; upbeat, optimistic, irreverent and capricious. Besides, I've always wanted to live in a tent and roam the continental US seeking employment like my ancestors of the 1930's.
So until the weather or my financial situation improves - I bid you adieu.

If I Had a Tail ---- I'd Chase It!
Howdy, weather drones,
It's been awhile since my last post; I've had a few unfortunate misunderstandings with various credit and utility companies....ergo, I'm now jacking my neighbor's ISP, with permission. The only thing worse than being without weather is being without weather AND money at the same time.
The last week has been very odd for weather here (odd, not awesome). The first part of the week saw temps in the 90's (F). That sucked since I work outside; then the back half of the week cooled off and today we had rain. Culminating in our brief 15 minutes of fame on the SPC/GRL3: A severe thunderstorm warning. I got so excited that I snapped the GRL3 screenshot and will lovingly display it for you now.

I was online with some other weather kooks and nearly peed myself when I saw this. Of course it means nothing, but hey, if I had a tail I'd chase it. There was no rotation associated with this storm - the cells flared and died just as quickly, but I did get this snappy screenshot!
The story isn't the same in the Mids however. The SPC has issued slight risks for most of the alley and everyone including the dead are going chasing tomorrow and Sunday. One of my aquaintances even posted an open seat for the weekend...maybe more later. TTFN

Fer Shear, fer shear, dudes!

Speaking of the high plains, the past few days haven't panned out for any good chasing, but April 9 shows good potential. See ya! ts

Greetings minions. Before you take the exclamation point thing too seriously, I would like to state for the record that we do not have tornadic supercells occurring. We are, however, enjoying some cold-core mesos performing a little rotation ritual for us. This radar pic was generated with GRLevel3 software - thanks for the free trial, dudes.

Now this radar shot will show you something you
don't see everyday in the central valley of Calif.
6 - count 'em, 6 mesos just over downtown
this evening. While I didn't include all the
pertinent data, those familiar with GRL3 will
know that at least 3 of these were pretty
strong. It's not often that we get better wx than the mids in early spring!

Ooooooo! Weather Frenzy in CA!
Ok, well maybe not; a girl can dream though can't she? So we aren't having a weather frenzy here today...in fact I'd be hard pressed to find a cloud today. As non-sucky as that sounds, it isn't a lot of fun for someone with my condition. What's that you ask? SDS. The need for ever-changing and rapidly developing storms and phenomena that our eyes can't believe.
California is great; it's beautiful with so much to do, but chasing storms just isn't one of the things we're known for. In fact, the closest I've come to being hit by lightning is when my blowdryer shorted out last week. Intense rotation is something only med students encounter and a dry line is still something that you hang your clothes on with pins.
Perhaps if I wait a few milleniums California will be located in the mids and then I can enjoy some REAL weather! Until then I guess I'll just have to be content with full sun, no clouds and temps in the low 70's for early April --- BORING!!!!!!!

It's On For the End of The Week!
Interviewed for a job today; I'd rather be in SE Texas right now. Too bad I probably won't get to do either....
No matter though, there's great weather setting up to make the end of this week - spectacular! This is what this evening looked like in western Loosianna....yikes!

I'll be monitoring the forecasts out of Norman for updates. If I hear about hot weather or an update on the job, I'll be sure to post. In the meantime make sure you have an umbrella!

Why Can't I Be Here Tomorrow?
Seriously folks; why can't I be HERE tomorrow? It looks like things are setting up nicely to be a HUGE day for severe weather in the OK, KS, and possibly NE areas. Though I've never been, I can dream, yes?
Every year I vow that I'll be there and every year I instead pine for the golden prairie of the mid-West and the development of incredible works of art by Mother Nature. The most spectacular displays of power come to life in the early Spring through early Summer months in our nation's heartland. So far I've had to be content with YouTube, Storm Chasers on the Discovery Channel and my own vivid imagination (assisted in large part by the Storm Predication Center (SPC) in Norman, OK.
